This fanlisting is for the character Arnold Judas Rimmer from the British comedy Red Dwarf. Rimmer died on Red Dwarf and always considered the accident to be his fault for not fixing the drive plate properly. He was brought back as a hologram by Holly, the Ship's computer to keep Lister sane. Along with Holly, Cat and Kryton, Lister and Rimmer got into all sorts of trouble as they headed back to Earth.

During these adventures the crew meet Ace Rimmer, a different Rimmer from an alternative universe. When they were children there was a choice to repeat a year at school, Rimmer did not repeat it, but Ace did. It completely changed the course of Ace's life and he was a completely different person to Rimmer. Ace is everything that Rimmer was not; charming, heroic, clever and brave. However, after the death of Ace, Rimmer follows his destiny and becomes the next Ace Rimmer.

In series eight Rimmer is resorted to life along with the rest of the Red Dwarf crew when the nanobots reconstruct Red Dwarf. This is not the same Rimmer that was a hologram and became Ace Rimmer, and so he does not share any of the experiences that Holly, Lister, Cat and Kochanski have had.

Throughout all the series' it is very clear that Rimmer is a complete smeg head, with no charm, wit, or bravery. Despite all this he is an amazing character and a loveable coward. Red Dwarf would not be as hilarious without his sarcasm, whining and cowardice.
